This unit covered the past tenses including past simple, past continuous, past perfect, and past perfect continuous. There are many irregular verb forms for the past tense, which likely is very difficult for students to learn because there are no real rules to follow other than memorization. Knowing the correct usages for each tense is critical for the students to learn the forms properly, and for teachers to catch mistakes before they become ingrained errors. I found this lesson to be a good overview of English grammar regarding the different aspects to the past tense.
