To be honest I found the unit to be quite touch and took quite a few times reading it over to fully comprehend the different present tenses. I found the video lesson to be very helpful especially the overview. I found the easiest way to identify the tenses by remembering the forms and rules which apply to each tense. Also the basic principals that the present simple is used to talk about habits, routines,facts and general truths. The present continuous describes actions in progress at the time or around the time of speaking. The present perfect always relates the past to the present and the present perfect continuous focuses on the continuity or duration of the action. This is definitely one of the most challenging aspects of grammar to grasp let alone teach.
