Being a native speaker, I must admit like many other native speakers I struggled teaching the tense system quite a lot. I believe this is so, because when you are verbally engrossed in a conversation you don’t really pay attention to how exactly you are using the tenses and they just naturally fall into place! Through this unit, I’ve learnt the systematic way of when, where and which situation to use each tense in. Unconsciously, I knew all along how to use them for my daily use, it was more so how to teach these terms that was difficult but now I believe I have a better understanding of them.
