Unit 5 teaches us how to manage the class. Classroom management is the skill for organising the class, having a friendly manner, maintaining the discipline. Good eye contact is essential for maintaining the discipline, for showing students that they are all involved. Good use of gestures, voice, using students names ( at the end of question)can be helpful in conveying the meaning of language, adding visual interest, get the students' attentions, organise the activities. there are different ways of grouping students in the classroom: whole - class grouping, stidents working on their own, pairwork, groupwork and they are all apropriate and have their own place in the classroom. There are also different ways of organising the classroom: - orderly rows- it is good option for classes of 25 and more students - circles and horseshoes- often used in smaller classes - separate tables - when students seated in small groups at individual tables The Unit 5 also deals with a teacher and student's talk time and advantages/ disadvantages of them, how to balance TTT and STT, how to avoid unnecessary TTT.
