This unit covered classroom management. This refers to how a teacher organizes and manages the class while remaining friendly and relaxed and maintaining discipline. Some key ways in which classrooms can be managed are through eye contact, gesture and the voice of the teacher. Teachers can also group students in pairs or the class as a whole, or allow them to work on their own based on the activities being carried out. The classroom itself can be arranged based on factors such as spacing, type of chairs, age of students and so on. It is important that teachers reduce the amount of time spent with their backs turned to the class, though this is unavoidable. Students and teachers need to build rapport so as to make lessons more enjoyable and free flowing, as well as to make interaction easier.
