Unit 5 talks about different aspects of class management and organization. The Unit shows the importance of the role of the teacher in the management of a class, how the teacher can establish good rapport with the students, hold their attention, encourage them, maintain discipline and reach a balance between good atmosphere and effectiveness of the lesson. The Unit explains different techniques and important factors in the management and organization of a class: teacher body language, like gestures, eye contact and voice; grouping students, according to the activities and circumstances; classroom seating arrangements and the position of the teacher during a lesson; the balance between teacher talking time (TTT) and student talking time (STT) and how to give instructions; establishing rapport with the students and maintaining discipline.
