The past tenses are tenses that help describe events or actions that occurred in the past. They are made up of the following, Past Simple, Past Continuous, Past Perfect, Past perfect continuous. Each of the tenses have a Form (for example Past continuous Subject + was/were + verb+ing)and usage specific to that tense. Each different tense can be taught and explained using a variety of games or activities. Teachers need to be aware that there are some common errors that students will make for each of the different tenses.
