This unit covers the different ways to teach new vocabulary, grammar structures, and language functions through the ESA methodology. Learning new vocabulary can be difficult for learners over 50. They do not trust their memory as much as young learners. So it’s important to use flashcards but also real objects sound if possible smells and tastes. For the same reason once they have some vocabulary we can introduce a grammar structure, take time to make sure the information is clear and understood. In pairs or groups they will make sentences using vocabulary they know, they just learned and the new grammar structure. Later on, the same process can be done using language functions.
