No one can deny the fact that reading through this unit may bring us back to further investigate previous ones (Teachers and Learners/Theories, methods and techniques) to have a clearer picture about teaching a new language. For instance, there is no doubt that in terms of motivation, young learners are keener, tend to satisfy their teachers and have a greater sense of fun (like to play) than adults. Children have the easiest to learn a new language in their 2-5 years. The earlier you start with a new language, the better it is. Children like to play, create, sing, and use symbols to enhance understanding. Having worked in Swedish schools, I noticed that children need a lot of repetition to get the linguistic base with pronunciation, flow, and grammar. The latter is much more critical in the beginning than the vocabulary, which can be expanded at a later stage. A good reinforcement is also to use rhythmic and movement songs. It is about "playing in" the language if I may say. It is crucial that English is a naturally integrated part of the business. Early childhood children are not ready for formal learning in the way language learning takes place in school. Young learners; especially 2-7 years, must be exposed to a natural language stimulus.
