This unit covers the past tense teaching methodologies regarding vocabulary, language structure, and language function instructional practices. I found the applications of “Straight Arrow,” “Boomerang,” and “Patchwork” methods beneficial and look forward to applying these in my own teaching. I also found the “what-not-to-do” items useful. For example, this unit teaches about pacing vocabulary lessons and tailoring them to meet the needs of the students without overwhelming students with additional word origin details or bringing in unnecessary grammar lessons to a lesson focused on vocabulary building.
