When I was young, in elementary school , I used to have a notebook where I wrote new vocabulary. This helped me learn a lot of knew English words. Most of my teachers only taught what was in the books which was basic material. From magazines, newspaper and tv shows, students can get a lot of exposure to new words and thus expand their vocabulary. I believe the methods suggested in this unit would also be very instrumental in helping students pick up and master new vocabulary. Crossword puzzles and gap fill exercises have stood the test of time in this regard.
