I have just completed the ITTT 120hr Online TEFL course and I could not be any happier with how it all went. As a relatively new member of this teaching field I am always looking to constantly be learning new things and applying them to my teaching. This course gave me a very different perspective of how I look at teaching as a profession. It is for this reason that I have chosen this topic to write about. Every teacher has their own beliefs and their own style of teaching and doing things but in the end we can all benefit from a few practices that have been tried and tested before. I am a strong believer that introspection is one of the most important things and not just for a teacher but for every individual as a whole. I find that as a teacher you need to be able to not only analyze and asses your students but also you need to be able to do that to yourself as well. This will allow you to be able to get the most out of your classes. You will find that the more you are real with yourself and point out your weaknesses the more you are able to change and deliver a much more rounded teaching service. You can also make changes to the way you teach and interact with students in order to make everything run smoother. In conclusion self-evaluation can help you to improve the educational experience for your students and identify the professional education you need to further develop your capacity to teach well. There are a few ways that a teacher can successfully do this all the while gaining experience and knowledge in the process. Self-monitoring is one of these methods that a teacher can use in order to self-analyze themselves. A teacher can do this by monitoring themselves as they teach or after every lesson. They can also record their lessons and go through them after to see if there are any mistakes or things that need to be changed. They can also have co-teachers or supervisors attend some of their lessons and write an evaluation that is to be reviewed after. If done correctly and with an open mind this self-analysis can be a very beneficial thing, not only for the teacher but also for the students. As I mentioned above I am a strong believer of this because the only way we can change and improve is by looking deep inside and facing our faults and be willing to address them and make a change. From now on I will make sure I conduct regular analysis of my lessons and I will record 1 lesson a month and I will go through it earnestly and honestly. I am very confident that this will elevate my teaching to the next level and it is all because of courses like this one and all the knowledge I have gained from it over the course.
