The relevancy of this unit was its focus and identification of the integral parts the learning process. It defined the attributes of a strong teacher and learner; bringing how the role of each is critical to a successful experience in learning a new language. The motivation of the learner was also explored. Understanding the motivation and the differences individual learners bring to the classroom is an additional significant component in meeting learners needs. Effective lesson planning engages all learners and identifying the motivation of learners is the foundation of planning strategies and activities to maximize class time and fully engage learners. Being able to classify learners through various levels of language ability was covered as well. I was not familiar with this information, so it was a section I intend to spend more time reviewing as to be able to become proficient in accessing learner progress. I should be able to use this information to more effectively plan individualized instruction in a class setting.
