This unit was rich in information about the roles necessary for a teacher and learners that a teacher might encounter when working in the field of teaching English as a second or foreign language. The unit was very specific about the roles a teacher must hold when teaching. It is very beguiling to think of the amount of finesse used in the classroom. A teacher must be aware at all times so as to not overwork or discourage the students in learning. The teacher must know what role to take all the time while working with their students. The information about the learners was particularly helpful. Working with second language learners can be difficult, but the information about the obstacles to each age group was very enlightening. The information about the language awareness and motivation was helpful by way of allowing me to understand the students and their resistance much more. It enabled me to think of another method to encourage the students.
