There are many subtle traits of the teacher student dynamic that I had come in contact with but have never been aware of. For instance, my Japanese high school teacher was probably the best teacher I ever had. He activated something in me where I wanted to become better at Japanese. All good teachers have been able to do that to me, make me want to get better and learn more. The content I learned in this unit makes it more clear why that is. It is because the teacher cares about my learning, it because he gives equal attention to me and the rest of the class, he is able to switch roles from being a part of the class to being a charismatic leader. This unit essentially broke down the elements of what it means to be a good teacher and I look forward to learning more detailed ways in becoming that.
