Unit 1 is an introduction to how teachers and students function in the ESL classroom. It gives a list of qualities of good teachers as well as good learners. The many roles that a teacher may take on during a class was of interest to me, as I realized I do all of those things in my current teaching position without really recognizing or naming each "job". What I found most valuable in the unit was the differences between the age groups and the descriptions of the different learning levels. While the range between beginner and advanced seems clear, it's harder to actually describe the differences between each level although this would be very important in assessing new students and devising learning goals.
