The issue of discipline in the classroom has always been a contentious one. Some people believe that discipline in the class requires the teacher to be a very strict and no nonsense type, however some people would counter and say the exact opposite that a teacher should be caring and subtle so as to gain the trust of the students. Whichever side it is there are a lot of good and bad things that are associated with each of them.so as a teacher you job is to make sure that you give your students the best education they can have. This usually entails more than just going into a classroom and teaching students from a textbook.in order for the students to be able to learn in a good environment. For this to happen there has to be discipline in the classroom. This also falls under good class management. I believe that for this to happen the teacher has to be able to form a good relationship with his students so that there can be some sort of respect. When there is respect between the students and the teacher there will be no need to shout do much or get angry so that the students can behave. During my classes I try and find a balance between having a good relationship with them and also making sure I am not a pushover. Discipline is not about having the students fear you but it is about getting them to respect you. You can do a couple of things to help with this like reading a system for your lessons like for example greeting the students at the door every day or make sure that you are always positive and try encouraging them whenever possible. When a student does something wrong then you must make sure they know the consequences but also be forgiving and really take your time to explain to them why they are getting punished so that next time they will know the punishment they will receive should they repeat the mistake. In the long run this will build an understanding with the students and the teacher and it will eventually ensure that there will be discipline in the classroom. Once you do this consistently enough you will find that your classroom will be a place of learning and good discipline. It would also be beneficial if a teacher could be able to learn about social interaction with students before they start teaching. This will ensure that they will know how to react in most situations during the classes if for example a student makes you very angry. The key is to always keep calm and never let your emotions get the better of you. Once this is done the lessons will run like a well-oiled machine. However, it is important to know that there will never be a perfect classroom but with good class discipline the classes can get as close to perfect as they can. I personally have learnt a lot from the class management unit and I will use those techniques to get my students respect.
