When managing a class, a teacher will use her voice, eye contact, and gestures to engage the students. This is how the teacher will convey new concepts, be a model for the language, give instructions, and encourage students to participate and answer questions. TTT is important to structure student work and instructions, but it should be kept to a minimum. STT can encourage learning and language exploration between students when they are grouped in more intimate seating arrangements like horseshoes, circles and small tables. These more intimate seating arrangements can be limited when the size of the class is over 25 and a more formal seating arrangement in rows, is normally used. If it is necessary to address behavioral problems, the teacher should never lose her temper. A good rapport with students and varying the activities should help with student boredom and avoid some behavioral issues.
