In this unit, I learned the basics regarding what it means to be a teacher for students wanting to learn English as a second or foreign language. I learned what makes a good teacher and, additionally, what makes a good learner! A good teacher must not only be kind and lively, but creative, determined, and eager to help students progress through the course. A good learner should be motivated, attentive, and excited to learn. I believe that it is important for a teacher to be passionate about English, teaching, and most importantly, their students. I learned a bit about the differences between adult and young learners, and how to approach lessons with each group to ensure the students will be able to experiment with their English skills and grow in an environment that encourages them to achieve their language-learning goals. Moving forward, I will keep what I learned in this unit close by, so I can apply these concepts to more challenging content throughout the course and my own career as a teacher.
