This lesson helped me to see what kind of characteristics a good teacher and good learner possesses. I've learned that a good teacher should not only care about their own teaching and skill set, but care about student's learning and help them reach their maximum potential. There are many different roles a teacher possesses and depending on the context, they should adopt the role that will be most beneficial to learners. I'm realizing that there is a time to be a manager or facilitator but also participator and prompter. When it comes to students, it's important to understand the good qualities of a learner so that the teacher can push students to become the best learner possessing these traits. It's important to realize that depending on the age, demographic, cultural background, and life experience, learners will respond in different ways. Therefore, knowing your audience and learners is key to effectively helping them. Lastly, I've learned there are many different motivations for learning and perhaps understanding students' motivations can also be a gateway to building rapport and good relationship with one's learners.
