The need to be aware of differences from an adult to a youngster re teaching english was very apparent to me, eg re rappor, with an adult a teacher may chat about a sport that both learner and teacher have participated in, that in itself can be a great way to loosen any anxiety of a learner by having that connection, also motivation where an adult chooses to learn, a youngster probably his parents have arranged for him/her to attend. I believe you need to know the subject matter and find ways to convey this to any learner in a way that is beneficial to the learner and ALSO the teacher, as that gives him/her pride in their work, be aware of sensitivity of a learner and by being aware they will respect you, and in so doing be more open to wanting to learn. I have, usually, only ever learned as a student, re the Manager type role of a teacher, so the othe roles have been in a way illuminating and also educational to me, re the faciltator/organizer etc. I have enjoyed this aspect of the course and look forward to more instruction and awareness re the good teacher.
