Unit 1 basically discusses about the roles, responsibilities and characteristics of both the teacher and the learner. I have learnt in this unit that the teacher has different roles, however these roles depend on what level the student is. On the other hand, students have different language levels from beginner to advanced. Furthermore, the unit tells the motivation of non-English speaking students to learn the English language. As a reflection, a teacher has to be aware of the different roles. He or she must be adaptable in any way to be effective and to achieve the set goals for the learners.
