This unit discussed the parts of speech for English, including different types of verbs, gerunds, adjectives, adverbs, conjunctions, prepositions, conjunctions, and of course, nouns. The unit taught me how to better explain what each part of speech is to learners of English, as well as how to supply various examples of each unit of speech. Most importantly, the unit identified many of the exceptions to each rule. Unfortunately, English is a rule-breaking language, so many of the parts of speech require lots of study because they have many irregular examples. This unit taught me how to better prepare my students for this aspect of English learning.
