I learned the differences in intransitive and transitive verbs. And how transitive verbs need to be followed by an object. For example, the word invite needs to be followed by an object or subject like a person. She invites people to a party makes sense while she invites, doesn’t. The breakdown of each part of speech was a good way in understanding the different parts. The different types of verbs, the different types of nouns, etc., all gave a better understanding on how to teach this to someone to help them learn English.
