Unit 2 explained the basics of English grammar. It started off with nouns. Nouns can be a person, place, or thing. The main types are; proper, compound, abstract, and collective. Nouns usually can be made plural by adding a s or es to the end, but of course, there are exceptions. Nouns can also be divided into countable and uncountable nouns. After nouns, we have adverbs, that describe nouns. They can be moved to describe and compare people as well. A key part and one of the most difficult parts of English grammar is verbs. Verbs are an action. They can be transitive and intransitive, depending on the nature on which they are used. All verbs have four different forms that can change the meaning that they have. Articles also have two different forms; definite and indefinite. Indefinite is referring to any member of a group while definite makes the noun specific. Adverbs go on to give more detail to the verb and exist in 5 different types. Pronouns are words that can be used in place of a noun, and gerunds make a noun in the form of a verb. Prepositions and conjunctions show relationships and join words. what we really see in this lesson is that the English language is a very complicated one, that has a lot of rules that not even native speakers know, but just do right. It's very important to keep this in mind while teaching because teachers need to feel confident enough with there knowledge of grammar to explain every part of English to another and keep students interested at the same time. Grammar is very important, even if it's just the basics; because grasping grammar will unlock the understanding of a new language
