One of my strengths when teaching is grammar. I am really good at it and try to put it as simple as possible for my students. I always provide them with enough examples and a lot of controlled practice and communicative exercises through which they gain confidence when speaking. For students speaking in the past can be difficult and they may tend to confuse different past tenses. However, once they get more used to it, they start using it more and more. I have noticed that some students are stagnant with the past simple and simply do not use other past forms; activities such as storytelling and worksheet help at times, but some others they do not. I wonder what else can be done for them to start using different past tenses in different contexts.
