Verb tenses are verb forms which English speakers use to talk about the past, present and future in their language. Each of these times has four aspects; simple, continuous, perfect and future. This unit covers the present tense and its forms, usages, typical students errors and ideas for the activate stage teaching. There are four present tenses: 1-The present simple that is a tense which expresses permanent situations, facts, habitual or routine actions. Example (He gets up early in the morning ). 2-The present continuous that is a verb tense which is used to show that an ongoing action is happening now either at the moment of speech or now in a larger sense. Example ( I'm speaking to you ) 3-The present perfect : Some of the uses of this tense are to talk about finished actions that happened at an indefinite time or when we describe past actions with present results. Example ( I have eaten pizza here ) 4-The present perfect continuous: This present tense relates past activities to the present. It expresses an action that is started in the past and continued to the present or recently stopped. Example ( You have been studying English since morning ) This unit includes range of activities that can be used in the activate stage of each tense which I believe are very useful to conduct an interesting lesson. These activities will keep the students focused and encourages more speech in the classroom.
