A lesson plan is a summary or a breakdown of what is expected to be taught within a class session. Lesson plan are not rigid documents but are made with as much flexibility as possible so as to adjust problems that may arise with students understanding and well as the problems that may arise from the teachers end. Thou all lesson plans are not written the same, they all have the same basic structure. Though I will not go in details all the sections of a lesson plan, all sections are of equal importance and relevant. To ensure effective lesson planning it is important that the teacher gather all the necessary materials needed for the subject area covered so as to avoid confusion within the classroom. Secondly, for an effective lesson planning their needs to be direct and clear instruction to the students, because a failure in this brings forth disruption, chaos, confusion, and lack of participation. Thirdly, the objectives of the lesson needs to be clear for teachers and as such all the necessary activities, worksheets and practice activities will need to engage the students as best a s possible so at the end of the lesson they are able to make some presentation of the sort or even a quick revision to show that information was grasped. Lesson planning takes a lot of work as it is created with many factors in mind such as the age of students, their level of English, the region even taking into the consideration the materials that are available. One should also note that a lesson should always be prepared and along with the teacher been able to effectively communicate. Thou their maybe instances where the teacher may divert from the lesson plan it should also ensure at the end the students have the basic understanding of what is been taught and what is expected of them. Lesson planning is a meaningful engagement where the teacher will have the responsibility to provide guidance to students, to assess their performance, provide feedback from activities given, provide them with relevant, informative and fun content and the list goes on. Although it is just a blueprint, a map or a guide it is very important and requires the best actions applicable to make lessons effective, engaging and informative.
