Teach English in Longyang Zhen - Weinan Shi

In the eyes of most Chinese parents, teacher is the most desirable and respectable job for a girl. So every parents tried their best to encourage their children to choose such career after their kids graduating from college. I was one of them. But the difference is that I rejected my parents' arrangement and finally worked in a trading company. As I was majored in language during colleage, my job in trading company was naturally connected with administration and something like this. With my age going up year by year, I discovered that I had no edge in my career path. I thoroughly considered the strength and weakness of myself. Then consulting with my tutor, finally I chose my parents' plan and prepared to be a teacher. So I choose this topic here. So why we want to be a teacher except for parents wish? From ancient time to nowadays, China is always a country typically emphasis on education. Especially modern China, after the cultural revolution, more and more people realized the importance of education. As a teacher, the responsibility is not only to be purely teacher but also to be a cultural promotor. It’s a wonderful career that you can keep growing in your knowledge pond and have continuous challenges as you’re going to face various background students. So for me, it’s a significant career which deserves me to pursuit and love in my whole life span. Then in order to be a good teacher and have a great career development what can we do? Once we make the decision to be a teacher, we should do a bit more about our own career path. First of all, we need to consider where we're going to teach. In current China, there're many different kinds of schools, pubic school, private school, international school and training classes outside of normal school. The requirement for different schools is quite different. For public schools, full-time bachelor degree is a must. After you step into such kind of public school, you will never be worried about losing your job. But at the same time, you would not be allowed to transfer between public school in different region as long as you pass the teacher enrollment examination held by local government. However It's much flexible in private school. You can choose to quit the job at any time and you will not be restricted to the region. But you might face the risk of losing the job just because of poor teaching performance by you or the poor operation of the school. The situation of private school is much alike international school and training classes outside of the normal school. So we need to think where we’re going to teach in our teaching career path. We need to think about whom we’re going to teach. We might to choose teach kids, young learners and adult. The skills and competence required are different among those categories. So we’d better have a close examination of ourselves. What degree do I have? Who do I want to teach? Am I qualified for the position requirement？ How further we can reach after chosing a spefic direction. It's universally known that there will be junior teacher and senior teacher in different stages of school. Junior teachers are those who are just stepping into the teaching circle and senior teachers are those who have taught for many year and grasp some teaching practice and experience. Beside those, there're model teachers and peer collaborative teachers. Model teacher are highly skilled educators with a passion and drive to improve the instructional quality of their schools. By extending their impact as teachers and lead learners in the school community, they promote local effective instructional practices beneficial for diverse groups of students. Additionally, they create a welcoming environment within their lab classroom for teachers to reflect, grow and continuously explore innovative instructional strategies. Peer collaborative teachers are those highly skilled educators that are committed and driven to improve the instructional quality of their schools. As lead learners, PCTs promote local effective instructional practices that are beneficial for diverse groups of students. PCTs support their colleagues through focused coaching, inter-visitations, and designing meaningful opportunities for professional growth. After we design the goal of our teaching career, what should we do in our daily teaching practice? First and foremost, we need to understand the learners and local educational policies and practice. Secondly, we should plan lessons and courses before the class begin. Thirdly, we need to manage the lesson during teaching process. Fourthly, we’d better collect various resources from different solutions and share those information with our learners. The last but not the least one, we need to have a proper assessment for learners and help learner to build a professional development. All in all, to be a teacher is just the beginning of our life. As a teacher, we have to do more and more so as to keep ourselves being updated along with the changes of the world. As long as we have the passion and desire, it means a good start. But we need to learn more and more to be a perfect educator. Then we should keep the goal of being a peer collabrative teacher in our heart. Whenever we want to draw back, just think about why have we gone so far.Teaching is a great career which deserves my whole life involvement.
