Business English is the type of English used in business contexts, such as international trade, commerce, finance, insurance, banking, and many office settings. It entails expectations of clarity, particular vocabulary, and grammatical structures. Here’s a quick review of some of the features of professional business communication. Business English means different things to different people. For some, it focuses on vocabulary and topics used in the worlds of business, trade, finance, and international relations. For others it refers to the communication skills used in the workplace and focuses on the language and skills needed for typical business communication such as presentations, negotiations, meetings, small talk, socializing, correspondence, report writing, and a systematic approach. English has developed to become the universal language for business around the world. English unites people and companies from different backgrounds, countries and languages and allows them to communicate in a clear and effective way. That’s why Business English is so important to study if you want to work in this sector. Having a good grasp of English that you can apply to business will be an attractive asset to employers. If my students want to live and work abroad in the future, in an English-speaking country such as the UK or the USA, they’ll need to be able to understand English business terms. Especially if they are looking to find work in your chosen field. Clearly, many of the English words used in business are specialized and would not be understood even by many native English speakers. Part of studying Business English is to study the vocabulary of business, which may itself be further specialized by activity or industry (banking, investment, import-export, oil, motor industry etc.). Another aspect is the study and practice of the language and language skills needed to conduct various typically business functions such as running a meeting, negotiating or making a presentation in English. Business English lessons aim to cover a range of skills that are found in everyday work scenarios. Unlike a general English course, the vocabulary and dialogue will be focused on scenarios such as negotiating deals, coping with communication problems and giving presentations to clients or colleagues. For those who are seeking employment, there is advice on how to respond to difficult questions during job interviews so that you can feel confident the next time you are in an interview environment. Business English also looks at cross-cultural communication where both parties are non-native English Speakers. There is a demand for business English which appears to be growing because learners are becoming clearer about what they want to use English for and as I indicated the same is becoming true for general English learners. In today's global economy, learners want not only the skills to read, write, listen to and speak English fluently, they also want to be able to communicate in a way which will be recognized and appreciated by their counterparts in the international arena. They want their English language learning to be targeted to this aim and they often also want their success in this to be measured using an internationally recognized benchmark - hence the rise in demand for business English examinations. I’m so thankful to ITTT Business English Course which helped me to achieve understanding all necessities for teaching this kind of language.
