As an English teacher, it is important to know English grammar well. Teachers should be able to identify nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, articles, etc. in sentences. A noun can be a person, animal, place, or thing. There are countable nouns such as doctors or a chair and uncountable nouns such as money or music. Adjectives are used to describe nouns. For example, beautiful, tall, heavy, etc. We can use comparative and superlative adjectives to compare things or people. Articles are "a," "an," and "the." "A" and "an" can only be used for singular nouns while "the" can be used for both singular and plural nouns. The basic difference between these articles is we use "the" for specific nouns which are mentioned before. On the other hand, "a" and "an" are mostly used for general nouns. A verb is an action. It can be transitive which is followed directly by an object or intransitive which is not followed directly by an object. A gerund is the -ing form of a verb and it can be used in the same way as a noun. We use adverbs to add meaning or information to the action, quality or state denoted by a verb. Pronouns are used to replace nouns or noun phrases. Personal, possessive, reflexive, and relative are types of pronouns. Prepositions describe the connection between a noun or a pronoun and some other word in the sentences. Conjunctions are used to join words or groups in a sentence.
