This unit describes the different parts of speech. These are nouns, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, verbs, pronouns and conjunctions. There are countable and uncountable nouns. The main types of nouns are common, proper, compound, abstract or collective. Secondly, the unit talks about adjectives which can be divided into superlative or comparative adjectives. Articles are either definite (the) or indefinite (a and an). The unit then defines the difference between transitive and intransitive verbs. The unit also highlights the usage of the three auxiliary verbs: do, have and be. Furthermore, the unit introduced five main types of adverbs: manner, place, time, degree and frequency. The unit also examines the different types of pronouns which are personal, possessive, reflexive or relative. Finally, the unit explains the difference between prepositions and conjunctions.
