This section provided a concise but thorough outline of major grammatical rules in the English language. It's important to have a solid understanding of major parts of speech in English (e.g. adjectives, nouns, conjunctions, prepositions, gerunds, etc.) so that I'm able to convey these grammar rules during lessons with students. As a native English speaker, I don't often think about grammar when constructing sentences; I just say them because they sound "right." However, non-native English speakers don't have this intuition so it's important that I know the explanations behind the construction of English sentences so that when students have questions about grammar, I'm able to respond by referencing the relevant grammar rule.
