Classroom management should be dynamic. Orderly rows are useful however there are better ways for students to interact with one another: horseshoe, pairing. The rapport you maintain with your students is the most important aspect of classroom management. By creating a warm and friendly atmosphere while still maintaining you role as the leader is not an easy task. It takes practice and a bit of trust from the students’ perspective. Problem behaviours will always be a hindrance on learning and properly functioning classrooms. In the beginning of the year, be stern, be consistent and be clear with your expectations. Students will respect you and work hard for you if the environment is safe and inviting.
