This unit is about classroom management which is the skill of organising and managing the class. Eye contact, gesture and the voice are important tools to manage the class. Also using the students’ name is really helpful to organise an activity or to acknowledge them. Each grouping of the students has his pros and cons. Pairwork is a good tool to increase the opportunity for student talking time. The teacher shouldn’t talk too much instead choose carefully the language for explanations and instructions. There are ways how the teacher can prevent problem behaviour for example with his punctuality, good preparation, returning homework promptly, not losing his temper and so on. If there are behaviour problem it’s the best to act immediately and not to wait till the problem is worse. Focus on the behaviour and not on the student.
