Past tense doesn’t differ much from present one, except that relates to the past. There are four past tenses: Past simple – used for actions that were completed in the past. Past continuous – used to describe a past action that hasn’t been completed yet or that was interrupted by another action. Also used to report a past action that took place in a specific time period and may have continued after it or when two, or more past events, that took place at the same time (where the past continuous tense describes the longer event). Past perfect – used to describe the action that happened first within a series of actions; also used when a past action finished in a specific time period. Is also used when describing two, or more past events that took place at the same time (where the past perfect tense describes the sorter event). Past perfect continuous – used to describe an action that began further in the past than other actions, but overlays with actions that began later or an action that caused a later action.
