A lot of Chinese students are quite good at grammar, including tenses. But when speaking, they still make some tiny mistakes which probably will never occur in writing. I believe if my students practice more, they will get rid of these sooner or later. But it's a long way to go. Teaching tenses has never been difficult for me. My students have no problem understanding.. But they just keep making mistakes when speaking. And my hands are tied.
