I've learnt about there are the rules of learning tenses with very clear usages.Usages show learners how is each tense formed. Before moving to the forming tense, regular and irregular verbs should have practised very well. Then, learners will be required to understand the usage of each tense so that the application is correct. For example, past simple is for the actions completed at a definite time in the past, so the answer of the verb is past simple form. There are few types of Past Continuous.First, it is for interrupted past actions. It shows about the action was going on in the past suddenly interrupted by another action.Second, it is for two actions were going on at the same time in the past.Third, the question is always asked for 'what were you doing the entire last night'? The application of was or were is needed.Next, Past Perfect tells an action occurred before other actions in the past. For instant, the bus had already left by the time you arrived. Next, Past Perfect Continuous is for longer actions or situations in the past that had been going on continuously up to the past moment. Here is with the example, it had been raining for several hours and the streets were very wet.In learning the past tenses, appropriate practices or activities are needed such as story telling as the learners can retell or narrate the story out.Besides, discussions and role plays are good activities to activate the learners participation. Thank you.
