It is understood from this unit that throughout the years there have been several approaches, methods and techniques about teaching English. Back to 17th century, first we called 'The Classical Method' in other words 'Grammar Translation Method' which based on translating Greek and Latin to the nature language. Then it followed many other methods such as Audio-Lingualism, Task-based learning method, The Silent Way etc. Among all the methods, 'ESA' created by Jeremy Harmer in 1998, seems the most efficient one. It basically consists of 3 parts. 1- Engage (the part we want all of the students talk and think in English) 2- Study (It is the learning part that we emphasized with boardworks and some activities) and finally Activate (the part that students show their abilities in a realistic context).
