This unit taught me there are many different types of teaching methods/techniques that can be used by the teacher. There is no correct one, or best one, because many of them depend on the class/students, the level of the students, etc., and one teaching style might work for one class, while it isn't as effective for another. I also learned a general layout of a class: engage, study and activate. This was really useful to learn because it is a simple model and easy to understand, but can be applied to a lot of different lessons, and can be modified for different levels. In addition to the various teaching methods that can be used, I also learned the importance of correcting students, and when/how to correct them. It should be thought out in depth because the way teachers correct students can have a huge affect on their behavior/interest in learning. For example, if a teacher continuously just provides negative feedback, and always tells the students what they did wrong, this can make the students feel discouraged and not as motivated to learn. It is important to make sure students are learning and learning from their mistakes, but in a positive and constructive, effective way.
