Teach English in Maojia Zhen - Ziyang Shi

Unit 3 focuses on many theories, methodologies and techniques in constructing a lesson. Besides getting to understand the importance of using the "ESA (Engage, Study, Activate)" framework, I find the suggested activities for the "Engage" phase utterly helpful. For instance, I often use introduction prompts to start a lesson with new students and I also let students to complete partner work together in order to break the ice or tension between new students. For the coming lessons with my students, I intend to try "I am going on a holiday..." activity with them so they can brainstorm and discuss various topics, such as weathers, seasons, destinations, cultures, things to bring along, family and friends, etc. Hopefully, students will get engaged in this activities and also enjoy the lesson as well.
