I have realized that I know less about english than I previously thought. I have gained a great understanding of the basics of the english language. I have learned how to develop a lesson plan for different levels of students. I can now prepare material, set up a classroom, and use the board effectively. I have learned some of the difficulties in teaching different kinds of students. I started out dreading lesson plans. However, I soon learned to love the creative process of thinking how I could help people learn english in a fun and effective way. I believe, with a little in class practice, that I can now develop and teach english classes to my students. I am going to use my training in two ways. I have some employees at my work who have expressed interest in improving their english. They come from places like cambodia, Sri Lanka, and Fiji (indian). I will probably set up a class after work once a week to help them improve their english. I have also signed up with Volunteering Waikato, a volunteer coordinator in my area, to possibly teach english to refugees. There are a lot of refugees who come to Hamilton, NZ. I think this is a great opportunity to practice my skills and help the community.
