In the first lesson the students were confused and intimidated. In the first lesson the students are not given a clear explanation of the lesson point (modal auxiliary verbs) so find it hard to understand. The only thing the teacher did not do incorrectly in the first lesson was leaving the room without explanation. The second lesson was a better success. The students participate effectively in the second lesson.The teacher has a positive and engaging attitude in the second lesson and the students respond with a high level of participation. The teacher used gestures and miming to get the students more involved and to let them have a better understanding. The Engage phase is effective in lesson two because it involves a concept that the students understand (animals). This encourages them to participate.
