The biggest take-away is the idea of how to plan a lesson. I knew that this was necessary, but not really how to go about the planning process. The various methods of a course (ESA, patchwork, boomerang) give ideas on how to accomplish the same ideas with different units and without getting stuck in a rut—it keeps classes from being too rigid or predictable. Along with this, I learned about planning resources for the lessons, as well as making sure those resources are available/working, prior to students' arrival, and having a back-up plan if the power goes out/DVD won't play/etc.
