While working with primary students this past school year, I put to work some of what I was learning at the time. Needless to say, the action is much more difficult than the writing. I was excited to be able to do some of the lessons I planned for early units, but I immediately realized the difficulties that you can encounter. I am thankful for the experience, though. This course reminded me that creativity is an important quality for teaching. It can be difficult at first, especially when you're new at teaching, but it can definitely be learned.
ITTT helped widen my perspective of teaching. Personally, I found the explanations of the differences between learning levels and adult and youth groups extremely helpful. There are different ways to approach these groups, activities that are better suited for one and not the other, expectations for higher-level groups. All of this information has given me a great introduction to tefl/tesol as well as the confidence to teach new, different learning levels. I am hoping to find a position working with university students in france.
