This unit give a generally overview of the parts of speech. Sentences range from simple to complex. A basic sentence needs to contain a subject and verb and sometimes an object for the verb. More complex sentences can include having adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions etc. English grammar does have some basic rules that can be taught but there are several exceptions to the rules that requires students to simply memorize and learn by frequent usage. I am a native English speaker and have used English for over 30 years and I still have a hard time explaining the parts of speech. Teaching non-native English speakers will be quite a challenge.
