In this unit, I have learnt the definition and usage of each part of speech. By understanding the sample sentences given, I have clarified the usage of nouns, adjectives, adverbs, verbs, pronouns, prepositions/conjunctions, infinitives and gerunds. I have known the difference between adjectives and adverbs as well as nouns and pronouns. Adjectives are used to describe nouns while adverbs are used to modify verbs, adjectives and another adverb. Nouns are used to Name people, objects, animals, places qualities and states while pronouns are used to substitute nouns or noun phrases. I have also learnt to classify each word in a sentence into what part of speech it is used.
