TEFL Courses in Tashkent | Uzbekistan

Situated in the east of Uzbekistan, Tashkent is the country’s capital as well as its largest city. It is also the Central Asia region’s most populated city with a population of about two and a half million people. The city was made the capital of the country when Uzbekistan gained independence after the collapse of the USSR in 1991.

Tashkent is an incredibly interesting and ever-changing city where the long history and rich Uzbek culture can be seen in the city’s fascinating architecture, particularly the exhibition halls and metro stations. One of the most effective ways to experience the way of life in Tashkent is to pay a visit to one of the many local markets which serve as social centers for the local population.

Tashkent’s nightlife is ever developing and you can find the best clubs, restaurants and teahouses in the city. The cuisine in Uzbekistan is mostly made up of bread and noodles with mutton being the main meat due to the large number of sheep in the country. Tea is incredibly popular in Uzbekistan and green tea is the national hot drink but black tea is preferred in Tashkent.

The city is home to an excellent transportation network that makes it possible to get all over the city from morning until night. Tashkent’s metro system is the most convenient way to get about town and is in service from 5 a.m. 12 a.m.

The city’s history can be traced back 2,200 years and encompasses the Islamic civilization, the Mongol conquest as well as Tsarist and Soviet Russia. Tashkent used to be an important travel and trade center on the Silk Road because of its favorable location and mild climate.

Tashkent’s tourist destinations include Hazrati-Imam Square which is in the historical section of the city. The Baraq-Khan Madrassah and Tilla-Shaykh Mosques, the Mausoleum of the famous Islamic scholar Abu Bakr Qaffal Shashi, and The Imam al-Bukhari Islamic Institute can also be found and enjoyed in Tashkent. Additionally, the Tashkent Television Tower, at 375 meters high, is the 11th tallest tower in the world.

Tashkent’s important architectural and historical value spans its fascinating history including ancient settlements, medieval buildings, Soviet era buildings, and the modern luxury apartments and business centers of today.
