This unit examined the basic parts of speech in the English language. Some of the basic parts of speech were nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, articles, prepositions, and conjunctions. Within each part of speech, more specific categories were discussed, for example, countable and uncountable nouns. The lesson also listed some of the exceptions to different grammar laws.
As was mentioned in the article, most native English speakers know when a sentence is correct or incorrectly, but we often aren't sure why. I fit in that group. My students will occasionally ask me how to form a sentence correctly, and while I am able to give them the answer, I can rarely explain the rationale behind my choice. This unit was very helpful in reviewing some of the grammar terms that I Haven't worked with since middle school.
