This unit on parts of speech is very helpful to learn the proper terms for words. Since we learn it as children and most of us forget what we learned about it in school,other than nouns, verbs and adjectives, it is good to know the proper terms. When I teach adults, they often have questions regarding gerunds, definite and indefinite articles and the like, because they don't use words like we do and it matters if you use the correct word. It is easy to identify a non-native speaker by the mistakes they make using the correct parts of speech, just as they can recognize us as non-local people in their countries due to our language mistakes.
